The back-vented brick facade with SPIDI® system

Andromeda Tower, Vienna (A)

The brick tiles, extruded from high-quality clay and flat-fired at more than 1,000°C; are small-format facade elements with a thickness of about 30 mm.
The tiles are mainly delivered with a natural red colour but also available in other colours. Due to the massiveness of the facade elements, a weight of about 40 kg/m² has to be taken into account in static calculations. Despite this high weight, the mounting of brick tiles is no problem with our SPIDI® Facade System, even on buildings over 100m high. Depending on the system, the facade tiles are either fixed to a combination of vertical and horizontal bearing profiles, or to a vertically arranged bearing structure. The tiles are fixed to the bearing profiles using concealed clamps. At the sides, the tiles have a groove that protects the facade from heavy rainfall. Hydrophobed facade insulation materials allow for open vertical joints.
