The back-vented glass facade with SPIDI® system

S-Bausparkasse, Vienna (A)

Glass can also fulfil a wide range of design ideas as a cladding material for back-vented facades. When combined with coloured insulating materials and the passive use of solar energy, it can open up entirely new facade design options. Through partial transmission, radiation is absorbed by the insulating material and converted into heat.
Through glass design and colour, the aesthetics of such glass facades convey a functional, artistic or ecological image.
The glass elements with a maximum size of 2.40 x 1.20 m are fixed without tension to the system function using vertical and horizontal bearing profiles and system fixation points. Deformation due to temperature, as well as structural and assembly tolerances can be balanced out very easily with this system solution using SPIDI®.
